The recipe is extremely simple, and it is even possible to prepare variations, one of which allows you to have gluten-free glue! Why prefer flour glue to store-bought glue?

He is highly preferable to make flour glue rather than buying commercial glues, whether in jars, tubes or sticks, because these industrial products are obtained by chemical processes. Not only these synthetic glues are toxic for the users, but they are also important for the people responsible for manufacturing them. Their Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are even suspected of being responsible for skin, respiratory and ocular problems and certain cancers.

Recipe for flour and sugar glue

This is THE ideal homemade glue because of a very high efficiency. It is not for nothing that it has been used since antiquity. No need to have a lot of ingredients since you just have to mix with a hand whisk, in a saucepan:

  • 1 tablespoon of fine sugar,
  • 1 glass of wheat flour,
  • 1 glass of water.

Once we have obtained a device without lumps, we heat low heat, stirring constantly. Take the pan off the heat as soon as you get a perfectly homogeneous and very smooth dough. All that remains is to pour the flour and sugar glue into a glass jar. It keeps in the refrigerator for 72 hours.

No-Cook Flour Glue Recipe

This 100% natural glue perhaps prepared by children since no heat source is required. The essential ingredients are:

  • 10 cl of organic flour,
  • 1 pinch of salt,
  • 10 cl of water.

In a large pot, place the flour then add the water in a trickle while stirring constantly. After 1 minute, add the fine salt and mix for a few more seconds. This glue can be used for manual labor for example. It can be kept for 3 to 4 days in the fridge, in an airtight jar. Thanks to the organic flour, this glue is not likely to sting the eyes of children.

Prepare gluten-free flour glue

There is a plan B for the gluten intolerant ! In this case, the wheat flour is replaced by corn flour or of the potato starch. You can use an empty yogurt pot as a measuring cup. The procedure is therefore as follows:

Pour the pot of starch or corn flour and the pot of cold water into a saucepan. Mix gently until there are no more lumps then heat to very low heat, whisking constantly. When the mixture is perfectly homogeneous and sufficiently consistentremove the pan from the heat.

Store gluten-free homemade glue in an airtight glass jar in the refrigerator for up to about 3 days. It is perfect for gluing wallpaperfrom earthenwarepaper and thin cardboard, either using a sprayer or a brush.

All homemade flour glues that do not contain no preservatives, they do not keep for long, at most 72 hours and in a cool place, as we have seen. Beyond this period, bacteria can begin to colonize the glue. In this case, we throw it away and prepare a fresh one.
